LIVE Saturday night: YAIMA

YAIMA is a Cascadian Folktronic Music Duo based in Seattle, WA.

Creating a deeply captivating and finely tuned container for their audiences- YAIMA (Mas Higasa and Pepper Proud) allow the listener the opportunity to Journey through Sonic Soundscapes traversing sensually stimulating and heart centered compositions deeply inspiring each listener to return to their truth. Their music is reminiscent of well known music groups such as Purity Ring, Massive Attack, Bjork, Portishead, Wildlight, Emancipator and Lulacruza.

YAIMA’s music is interwoven with intention and acknowledgment for the elementals. As the earth transmutes through fire, the winds move the water, the water falls and replenishes the earth- the cycles of gratitude and reciprocity is what weaves these harmonies and deeply pulsing rhythms into a unique and balanced sensational journey.

A’lan Abruzzo

A'lan loves dancing. A'lan loves music. He considers DJing for fusion such a privilege, joy and self expression. His fusion DJ acumen originated from his early training at blues venues and grew as he became the first music coordinator at Shades of Blues in San Francisco. He broke onto the national fusion scene at the Portland Fusion Exchange and since then he's played at SDFX, LVFX, SFFX, DFX, SFFX, MFX, Urban Recess, Seattle Fusion Festival, Albuquerque Fusion Experiment, City in Motion, Emerald City Blues, Mile High Blues, and BAmF 2016, 2017 and 2018. He's looking forward to sharing his love sounds with you and move you into micro bliss.

Andrew Falabella

Andrew "Wildcard" Falabella is an emerging DJ based in Bellingham, WA. A dedicated punster and aspiring scientist by day, he enjoys taking his more musical experiments to the dance floor by night. Shuffling inspirations from acoustic to electronic, from intimate to cinematic, Andrew builds cohesive sets with a multitude of genres. After four years of spinning for Bellingham socials, he is excited to return to his home state and play for the Bay in his festival debut!

Andrew Krausnick

Andrew loves to listen, play, and dance to music from a wide range of genres and voices. He enjoys combining new sounds with the known and cultivating a one of a kind experience on the dance floor.

Angie Huang

Angie is always listening for good music, anytime and anywhere. From the woods to wooden floors, she’s played for dancers all along the west coast at house parties, national events, and her own home scenes in Sacramento and the Bay Area. Ever since she started dancing and DJing in 2009, Angie has been an avid social dancer and keeps her ears on the pulse of what makes people move. Her DJ philosophy – feed the floor so they want more. She enjoys breaking a song down into the elements of what makes it great for dancing, and serves up phat beats, tasty rhythms, and weaving harmonies. You can always find Angie grooving behind the booth during her set, and with descriptions like "raw kinetic catharsis" and "explosive love heartbeat", they are something to experience for yourself.

Ari Levitt

Ari has spent the past 30+ years collecting a massive assortment of music from across the country and throughout the world, and greatly looks forward to sharing some of his favorite fusion tunes quietly with you here this weekend!
As with his dancing, Ari's range of musical interests is equally diverse and draws from such genres as fusion, blues, swing, ballroom, latin, jazz, waltz, vintage, tango, world beat, inter-galactic beat, and more…
Ari calls Seattle home where he works as a physician specializing in the area of 'Wellness & the Arts', runs "Roll Up The Rug & Dance", and co-organizes the "Heart Sound Fusion" program on Whidbey Island. He also organizes a wide variety of other fun dance-adventure programs including "Waltz Week in Vienna", "Mexico Dance Retreat", "New Zealand Dance Adventure", "Snowflake Blues" (Austria), "The Sound of Music Swinging" (Germany), "NW Waltz Fest" (Seattle), "Hawaii Dance Adventures", "Harrison Hot Springs Dance & Spa Retreat" (B.C.), & the very unique "Dancing with Horses" program, to name a few....

Brian has been dancing for 10 years and began DJing on his very first dancivesary. Brian discovered that having the right music playing at the right time is not just a task for the dance venue. Whatever the occasion, be it on a beach, on a road trip, or coding at a desk having the best music playing for the mood is a daily pursuit. Brian also produces his own music so you might hear an original tune or two from him. Also, he has a beard.

Kezia Wineberg

Coming to us from Portland, Kezia aims to stretch the possibilities of micro by finding unusual and compelling music that rubs the sweet spot between surprise and delight.

Matthew has been dancing blues and fusion for more than 6 years. He really loves his isolations and syncopations. His philosophy of partner dance is something he brings to dancing, teaching, and DJing: dance is highly conversational with plenty of adjectives, adverbs and other parts of speech. His goal as a DJ is to bring emotionally evocative music to dancers and empower them to have whimsical, funky, and awe-inspiring dance conversations.

River’s enthusiasm for amazing music shows through every song they play. They DJ in conversation with the dancers in the room, creating dynamic sets that infuse the dance floor with energy. You can dance to their sets in their home base of San Francisco, and wherever they travel. They’ve DJed at national and international events, such as European Blues Invasion, Fusion Exchange, and DJX.

Telind Bench

Telind started DJing in 2010 and never looked back. In the past almost-decade, he's played international exchanges and tiny beachfront gazebos, bangin' house parties, predawn latenight sets and everything in between. Throughout it all, he's developed an ability to take a whole party on a fantastic journey, and a unique sound style that blends bass, dub, funk, pop, and acoustic into one seamless musical experience. Come join the party, because it's going to be amazing. <3

Tyler Hunsaker

Tyler listens to an absurd amount of music. Spotify clocked him at 80K minutes listened last year! He’s always listening for something fresh and new to play for the community. The color of his music taste is mostly electronic by nature. However, he can usually find something to appreciate in all types of music. He loves bass music! He also produces music and is hoping to have some tracks to share at BAmF!

Music at BAmF

BAmF is, above all, a great experiment. Micro (like fusion in general) is an evolving dance style, where music and movement vocabulary are growing and changing together.

Micro music spans a variety of genres, from downtempo trip-hop to delta blues and high-energy, glitchy EDM. Good micro tracks generally evoke emptiness and stillness, have precise beats, and are emotionally evocative, but there are exceptions to all of those rules. Since this is a micro-focused event, we’re encouraging our DJs to explore what that means, musically.
